(Latin: Archidioecesis Regio-politanus in Iamaica) is an archdiocese of the Latin rite of the Roman Catholic Church in the Caribbean. The Archdiocese encompasses the larger portion of the island of Jamaica, and the capital of Kingston. The archdiocese is the metropolitan archdiocese for three suffragan dioceses: Belize City-Belmopan, Mandeville, and Montego Bay, as well as the Mission Sui Iuris of Cayman Islands. The archdiocese and its suffragan dioceses are members of the Antilles Episcopal Conference. Originally erected as the Vicariate Apostolic of Jamaica in 1837, the Vicariate was elevated to the Diocese of Kingston encompassing all of Jamaica in 1956. After the Diocese of Montego Bay was split from the Diocese of Kingston, it was elevated to the Archdiocese of Kingston in Jamaica on 14 September 1967. Visit their website.
The 2019 Holy Cross Mission Team returned from Kingston, Jamaica on Friday, Feb. 22. Some were a little sunburned. Others were still recovering from ant bites or lack of sleep. But all of us brought back with us a huge helping of the love and generosity that we had experienced during our eight days on this beautiful island. One of the highlights of the trip was the completion of our house build in Swallowfield - a very poor neighborhood in Kingston. It was so inspiring to hear the heartfelt words of gratitude from Miss Joel Kerr who received the keys to the house that we built through "Food for the Poor". One other highlight was certainly the farewell celebration at Riverton Meadows Early Childhood Centre during which Ms. Sandrina Lewis, the General Manager of St. Patrick's Foundation, sang "Smile Jamaica". Although we felt sad to leave our many new friends in Jamaica we realized that we can continue to share the love we experienced with our families and friends here in Canada. Thank you to everyone who supported this year's Mission Trip, especially the Archdiocese of Kingston, Ontario. We were blessed to be part of it.

One of the highlights of the 2018 Holy Cross Mission Trip
was building a house for a family in a very underprivileged area of Kingston, Jamaica.

Belleville college students build houses in Jamaica
Twenty-three students from a Catholic college in Belleville, Ontario along with four of their teachers, spent eight days in Jamaica during the recent March break. But they were not there as regular Canadian tourist just to enjoy the sun, the sand and the sea.
