Pilgrims will depart at 7:00 am from St. Mary in Carleton Place, travel by coach to St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal, and attend Holy Mass in English in the Crypt Church. Private time for prayer and exploring the many holy places at the Oratory will be available to pilgrims. This solemn, ecumenical service of darkness reflects upon the condescension of Christ through chanted Scripture and motets appropriate to the sobriety of Holy Week. Choral motets include Allegri’s sublime and iconic Miserere, Orthodox chant, and works by Bach, Bruckner, Esguerra, Lotti, Rheinberger, Verdelot, and Willan. All are welcome on Good Friday for a Families' Stations of the Cross from 10:30 - 11:30 am, beginning at Holy Family Chapel, processing down to Arrowhead Beach, and heading back to the Chapel for the final stations. Reflections will be age-appropriate for children and led by families from the Catholic Girls Club and Companions of St. Michael (Boy's Club).
