Mandate of Youth Ministry Program

The Office of Youth Ministry is to provide a vision of "Comprehensive Youth Ministry" to the diocese in an effort to support and or begin youth ministry programs and activities in parishes.  The Youth Ministry Office is responsible for the development of an Advisory Committee to help and support youth ministry and foster communication throughout the diocese.  The office will collaborate with the Archbishop, priests and laity in the formation of Youth Ministry goals and activities, i.e.  "Celebrating Catholic Youth 2010," in Kingston.  An overall goal is to help support all parishes to be "youth friendly."

Message from Anne

As Youth Coordinator, I am presently facilitating a committee in the planning and implementation of a "Celebrating Catholic Youth 2010" event scheduled for Saturday, 8 May from 10 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School.  The theme is "Shine Like the Son; John 3:16."  Please see notice >

Youth ministry is happening in our Archdiocese; several parishes have either comprehensive youth ministry programs, youth ministry activities or a youth group; and some parishes offer specific programs like "Theology of the Body,"  "Youth Alpha," and "Youth Cafe Series."  It doesn't matter what your parish chooses to do with their youth as long as it's inviting, inclusive, and fosters faith and leadership in Christ Jesus.

Listed on this site are activities that relate to youth ministry.   If you have something going on that is for youth in your parish, please email the information to me at: youth@romancatholic.kingston.on.ca,  and I will forward it to our webmaster.

I am willing and available to help support all youth ministry leaders and their programs.  Please call me at the Diocese Centre, or email me for information and/or assistance with youth programming, activities and events.

TWINNING COVENANT
ARCHDIOCESE OF KINGSTON, ONTARIO
ARCHDIOCESE OF KINGSTON, JAMAICA

Pictured above are Archbishop Brendan O’Brien and Archbishop Donald Reece just moments after they signed an historic Twinning Covenant between their two Kingston Archdioceses.  The signing took place during a special Mass that was celebrated on March 16th at Stella Maris Church in Kingston , Jamaica. . In attendance were over 40 students and staff from Holy Cross C.S.S.,  Regiopolis-Notre Dame C.H.S. and Nicholson Catholic College as well as many clergy, religious and laity from the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica.  The joyful celebration was just one of many highlights from the recent school Mission Trips that saw our young students and their adult chaperones volunteer at various schools, hospitals and other groups sponsored by St. Patrick’s Foundation in Kingston , Jamaica .  We were also able to experience first hand the effects of a severe water shortage that has been affecting many areas of Jamaica over the past few months.  And, we also witnessed the inspiring faith and love of our brothers and sisters who opened their hearts and their homes to us throughout our time in Jamaica We are all looking forward to sharing our stories with fellow students, staff and parishioners. And, we are also looking forward to exploring new ways of strengthening the partnerships and friendships that we developed with the people of Kingston , Jamaica .
