Celebration of Appreciation 
of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul
St. Francis des Sales Parish, Smiths Falls
3 October 2010

Since 1904, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul have served Smiths Falls at St. Francis de Sales church, hospital and school.  With Sister Marlene Schuster’s retirement in Sept/10, this ministry in Smiths Falls will conclude.  
We invite you to join the celebration of appreciation on Sunday, 3 October.
During the 10:30 a.m. Mass,  the 100-year-old, recently restored, altar stained glass window will be dedicated in honour of the 106 years of service of these Sisters to St. Francis de Sales Church .   
A tea and social will follow from 12:00 – 2:30 at Hanley Hall.

Life Teen is looking for talented TEEN musicians and vocalists to join the LIFE TEEN Band.  If God has given you the gift of song, share your talent and help lead our community in praising our Lord!

Hour of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood

Join us for an hour of prayer during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to pray for our priests and for vocations to the Priesthood.   We need more Priests in the world, in our diocese and in our parish.  We can make a difference. Please come and pray with us. Let us trust in God’s holy word that our prayers will be heard and answered.

Eucharistic Adoration

Montreal On Thursday, 28 October 2010, there will be a bus to Montreal to honor Blessed Brother André, who will be canonized a saint on 17 October 2010. Br. André is known to many; and what a holy place, St. Joseph’s Oratory, to show recognition to our Canadian Saint. The bus will leave from St. Joseph’s Church at 8:00 a.m. sharp. There will be a comfort break on the way, arriving at the Oratory at approximately 11:30 a.m. We will leave Montreal at 4:30 p.m., stopping in or around Cornwall for dinner. Our Lady of Knock Shrine – The geographical location and panoramic setting of Mayo, Quebec is very close to the landscape of the original shrine in Knock, Ireland . The people of this municipality are descendants of the early Irish settlers from County Mayo.  Father Braceland, who was appointed pastor in 1949, was inspired to erect a replica of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in Canada . Monica Brown is an internationally acclaimed Christian composer and workshop facilitator in the areas of spirituality, liturgy, religious education and the integration of the arts. Her music is widely used throughout the world and is touching the hearts of many.
